Thoughts on these themes

So it is time. I am late to the party, but I want to share my thoughts on this theme that has been out for a while. You may have seen it, and I even tried it out. The Blank Canvas. As the name suggests, it is a “Blank Canvas.” And you have a “little” more control over what you can do. That is the impression I got anyway. It feels like an option for free users to try out.

I have two other themes I want to mention later on. One WordPress theme seems interesting. But I’m getting ahead of myself. I will start with one WordPress theme at a time.

Blank Canvas has three sections to edit. You can think of this as a burger or a sandwich. A top, a middle, and a bottom. You can edit each section almost as if you are writing a blog post on wordpress.com.

Spearhead Blocks theme

The theme does look nice. It is a single column for your blog. There are no widgets for this theme, but I will get back to this later. If you are fine without having widgets to use, this would be a great theme for you. It is clean and simple for users. No header images from what I have seen.

Now I will say this. If you use the new theme and feel it is not your thing. And switch back to the old theme you were using. It can have an odd effect on your widgets. I say this because I used the Blank Canvas and switched back to the Colinear theme to see all the widgets I had set in place were removed/deleted.

Back up your widgets. Put the info into a text pad should something happen when switching back from a Blank canvas series theme.

I mentioned other themes, like Blank Canvas and how they act, and I will cite them now.

Spearhead Blocks, and Pixl. These are the same as Blank Canvas, but most of the work is done and has more features to use/mess around with to see what works for you. And these have their spin, and I’m not 100 % on how much you can edit here, but again, I think these are great new themes.

I am a fan of having widgets for viewers to look at, from Twitter to my Instagram. I enjoy showing off my social media, but maybe it is time to cut back on widgets. And it seems these themes won’t add widgets to use anytime soon.

Overall, I think the themes are great, and I might even try it out for a month to see how I like it and to go without using widgets. It might be fun, or maybe I will stop after a week. But that was my thoughts on these themes and what I think of them. I don’t know what others think of these themes.

Sylphy interview

I wanted to do this. And that is to interview someone, and it would be fun to ask questions and see what someone feels or why someone does the things they do. :3

Q: Why did you make [blu]? Was there a reason for the guild being made or was it simply you wanted a guild, and you made one?

A: “Well, being a noob I was treated pretty poorly back in 2012. In the guilds I was in, [Abstract] being the worst offender, I was ignored, harassed, picked on. My friend at the time xRirix suggested I make my own guild and so I did, naming it [Spellbreakers]. It later became the guild you know today [Blu]”

Q: When did you start playing elsword, and Why do you continue to play elsword?

A: “Back in 2012, I was working as a volunteer in player support with another company known as Artix Entertainment, I retired from the company and was looking out for games to try out. On the back of an Otaku USA magazine was an ad for Elsword so I gave it a shot and it stuck really well with me. Started early 2013 if I remember correctly, picked Eve’s Code: Electra as she had just released. Mostly the reason I stick around is because of the friends that I have and the ones I have made over the years and for the love of the guild.”

New year resolutions and goals for 2023

So with 2022 coming to an end and 2023 soon on the horizon. I should make goals, changes, and things I plan to do this time instead of me making these goals because of someone. I am making these goals for me and no one else in mind. These will be goals, plans, and things I want to do for my future.

And these are changes in my life and what I want to do moving forward. And some of these changes are needed, of course.

Things I plan to do before 2022 ends

Twitter

For this, it is time I do some cleaning up. And since I don’t roleplay anymore and for other reasons. I don’t see a reason to keep these accounts around. For those who don’t know, I made these Twitter accounts for roleplaying. Twitter back from 2011 to 2014. These were accounts for roleplay, venting, and whatnot.

These accounts are dead and still on the site as I wanted to leave them as a reminder of the great times I had, but given that Twitter could implode at any time, and these accounts were going to be something I look back laugh fondly with some people.

The accounts I am talking about are sonik and SorcererofKarth These roleplay accounts were something I enjoyed using back then, but I feel it is time to get rid of them and let them be free. One of the accounts my ex made help make in a skype call. And with my roleplay group defunct, there is no need to hold onto them anymore.

Some small changes

Well, well, well. Time to talk about some things, but it is enlightenment for me and a step forward. I’m happy with this result. I think it is for the best. For me, health-wise, this blog post should be long blog post, or it might be short. I do not know.

2022 has been a crazy year, but I think because of this year, I realized something and realized something I should have since 2020 but better late than never, huh? It is better to learn the lesson later rather than never at all.

And after doing some thinking, I want to change the tone of this blog post to something happy and more uplifting. And let me begin. It is December and the final month of the year, and I guess the blog post I made here was something I needed.

Social media

Twitter and Instagram

So, this section was going to be about me listing off some things, like how using @onychaos gives me social anxiety and whatnot. I guess I can turn this around. I suppose I should start changing the way how I use social media.

I was worried and focused on old friends that I was blinded. Time to stop worrying about them.

And I think that is completely fine. No point worrying about other people. That is my wake-up message, and I’m glad I got it. And it is good to get the idea sooner than later.

I used to be bitter, holding on to the past when I should have let go of it and I think I am ready to let go of the past and everything linked to it. Look to a bright future with or without friends, and that’s ok, and I accept this now. it is a better choice.

Let’s talk

Alright. This blog post will be unlike the other blog posts and more over the place. Time to face my demons. This blog post won’t be seen by the person I want sadly. And something that weighs on my mind all to way back to 2021-2019, and I dare say even 2015. Doubt, thinking far into the future, and living in the past for comfort. And my mini breakdown on Twitter.

Let’s clear something up. This is here to give an understanding of how I think, maybe.

Doubts. I have doubts that they go well online. I try to push these thoughts back that things will be ok, but my thoughts only come back stronger. I know whatever I do, friendships, relationships, something comes to warn me that they will end.

It is either I doubt my friend will be there in the future or that I never deserve anything good. When good things happen, these thoughts follow. It’s a harmful cycle that I hope to break free of it.

But even then, I have doubts it won’t go well. Most of the doubts come true, and I begin to wonder if these are even doubts anymore but a look into my future with whatever I doubt. It’s funny since I had dreams that gave me a peak into my future.

Thinking too far into the future has been a flaw of mine. It’s either too far in the past or too far into the future. Never the present. I look to the future as it is more important than the present. It is a harmful mindset, but looking into the future.

I see the future as something better, but I stay too focused on it that it does me more harm than good. What would happen if this changed or that changed? What would life be like if I can’t help but focus on the future?

And living in the past. One who lives in the past has no future, or along those lines. What my friends and ex told me. Something I laughed off as silly, but then I started to live in the past as it gave me a sense of comfort when friends I held close started to change.

Then it was not until I started to live in the past more as life began to change for the better and worst. And I would say for both as I recall past events fondly and gain comfort and peace at the cost of creating a harmful bubble, so to speak.

Cleaning out old blog posts

So, this has been on my mind for a long while, and I thought about doing this before. I made so many blog posts. And most of them were rants, vents, or quick blog posts for a quick thing I did.

And as much as I “loved” Some of these blog posts, some of them came off or were super negative. And I should delete some of the blog posts from my blog. I want to do this because I have a clear head now, and having blog posts that have the vibes of being drama related or negative is something I wish to drop.

I am sure some people would love that stuff, but I want to let it go and wipe out these posts. Most of them are outdated, whiny, and petty. And what was said has been said. But I do not want to keep the past chained up to me anymore.

And some of the posts I plan to delete can be edited but the original vibe of the message would stay the same, and there is no point in keeping those kinds of blog posts around, in my opinion. I don’t mind when there is a little negativity because that is something you can avoid so much.

When that negativity is something I actively create, it is something I need to clear out as it will be easy to fall back to being negative, and I do not want that. And some blog posts need to be deleted anyway as they lead to nowhere or things I have blogged about have changed over the years into something completely new.

Right now, I am somewhat happy with my blog, and the few users that read my blog for drama and negativity have stopped doing so and have moved on, and I am doing the same or will try to anyway. Haha.

That’s all. And I wanted to info my readers of some changes I am making to this blog and the content.

Hmm, I have not done this in a long while, and all the reason to do that now. I used to talk about bloggers and add them to a list where other viewers find new users to follow and check out their content or personality. And it is good to expand your reach on bloggers to follow.

You can find some hidden gems in the rough, or people are worth a follow, or at the very least, find some great blog pages to watch or check out. So it is time to get started with this blog post.

Ko-fi time is soon

I had this thought way back then, and it was should I make a patron as a way to get donations when I live stream or support for games I make to help make extra money on the side.

I have thought about this for three years and so. And I think this would be a great way to make some extra cash on the side for projects and future things so I can do stuff and help out other people. I want to be a game dev, but I also want to get a job, which might happen as things are turning around but more or less in the same situation for the time being.

One website I have thought about using is/was Patreon, but I have seen how funny and shady they have been if you wanted to do risque things. I have heard people had issues with the site here and there, and I feel it would be best to avoid them.

But one website I found and grew fond of is Ko-fi or as most people know it the “Buy me a coffee!” website. And this can become a bonus since if I can get Ko-fi up and running, I can by proxy become a Twitch Affiliate via the twitch Program. And this will open up more routes for me, and I think that will be awesome.

And I could make server roles for ko-fi users that donate or sign up which would be great but I will put these ko-fi links in games, on my blog, or on twitch and YouTube where it is not optional to pay but it would be there if you would like to support me. I don’t know when I will have this up and running but if I get it up and going you will see a ko-fi button.

So, this is something I’m hyped for but it will be a while. And it will be worth it, I want to think. When I can get ko-fi up and running, I will make another post. That’s all I want to share. :3

Tumblr Test

So, I did a little test not too long ago where I wanted to see how well would my blog posts would do on Tumblr compared to WordPress since Tumblr has a lot of communities which I thought would do well there, and the results were not too shocking.

So my goal was to upload things to Tumblr and then WordPress after to see how would they do, and from what I have seen, WordPress has done a bit better than I thought. I made some blog posts for Tumblr to see how well they would do and show up but the results were poor.

Tumblr from what I would see would peak at 2 to rarely 6 views then flame out. A lot of the people I thought were there in the Tumblr communities are buried under so many posts and my understanding so far is that I am hard to find unless I have a presence and maybe I can get found.

It seems on WordPress, I have somewhat of a presence here. It is not a large one but big enough for me to get found by other viewers, bloggers, and users outside of WordPress. And I will continue to upload here. I did have a feeling that I would not get the result that I wanted.

WordPress blog does better than tumblr one.

Going forward I will keep that blog around on Tumblr in case something happens or my blog gets wiped out but I think I am fine. I am a little sad that my blog posts didn’t do well as I hoped on Tumblr but this was a good wake-up call for me.

So I now know for future reference that Tumblr would be a good backup blog at the very least. I wanted to share my experience with you and I guess the results I saw.

June update log

Time for a June update, as usual. I will list the things I did, done, or planned to do for June but they will have their section with details and such. I think having them as a list is boring.

If I make extra changes to some things.

1. People can join and leave whenever they like. And welcome to rejoin if you were not causing issues. You can come back anytime.
2. If a said person leaves the server not due to being compromised.
3. Rare roles, Tatsu server points, and score, and anything else, may or will be lost and must be earned next time.
4. Access to private channels may be lost since discord removes you if you leave a discord server.

Oops updates

Ah, time to post again, and oh boy. A lot of what has happened and this will be a blog post and probably will be the last time that my friend has to proofread my posts to make sure they are safe to post so no one will be mad, and while that was nice having someone level headed clear my posts to be green to post.

Almost time to move out

With all the crazy stuff happening, our time in our old place is almost. We are moving out on May 31, 2022, because our landlord is a butt but the new place is a lot better and looks nicer than our current area

I have 9 boxes ready and got a few more to do and once my things are packed up, I can work and clean up in the other rooms and pack up stuff for the movers to get, and this move will be unlike Texas since the move will be a few hours and not a few days.

Movers show up on May 28, 2022, and we leave on the 31st of May but we want to be out before that date. Mini update: The movers are coming on May 27, 2022

The last trash day is coming up since the landlord wants nothing here or outside, it is going to be a rough week.

Wake up call

Life update

So it seems we are moving again and not by choice. Our landlord is big baby mad that we won’t renew the lease for this place we are staying at this moment. I have a simple update to relay and whatnot.

Given that it is a new year and our lease on this place ends on May 31st. Our family was looking for a better place to stay in. So my mother does not want to renew the lease in case we found a new place and decide on something else once we find it and that has upset him so he is forcing home inspections and forcing us out. There is no option to renew here, he wants us gone.

The lease that he gave to renew has gone up in price and wanted more for staying in this house, and the place was already in bad shape and with him being the way he is as a landlord. That’s a yikes, but on a good note. We got a new place to stay in but this means we will have to start getting ready to pack up and repack stuff again sooner than later.

The point is, the landlord is petty, we are moving out around the end of May and see how things turn out for me and my family, and hope the next area is better. Sucks this again had to happen sooner instead of later but what can you do.

Some WordPress Issues

So, I want to do something that I used to do on Tumblr. On Tumblr, I made a big post talking about the issues and problems I found with the site and I made that post in great detail. With WordPress, I found a lot of new issues, old issues that got somewhat worse, and just other things I am confused about. 

WordPress reader tags (And this can apply to search)

These are very important and a good way to find what you are looking for, rather than trying to search for it without tags, making it harder. Tags are good for getting your posts found on WordPress reader and other sites.

Why am I talking about tags now? Well, I mentioned before that the NSFW tag was being cleaned up of bots and spam accounts but some posts got caught in the crossfire and wiped out from the tag.

And now today, some tags I check every once in a while seem to be empty. It is annoying to know that posts that you make will become hidden and/or removed later on as time goes on from search/tags

You can see hear that the last two blog posts are somewhat transparent here, and I have seen this on blog posts in the NSFW tag a few years ago, and I guess this means the blog post is marked to be removed/hidden? No clue for the https://wordpress.com/tag/steven-universe

Tumblr or WordPress?

It has been a while since I talked about Tumblr. And then I talked about Tumblr on a serious note was the post NSFW ban on Tumblr and link ban which hid blog posts, and after going back to Tumblr, I see they fixed their site. The search engine for Tumblr seems to show all. Even tags seem to be working right, but I can’t be completely sure.

And which all these changes, and given that Tumblr is a part of the WordPress family now, I have a new option for blogging. There is one thing I can’t be sure about, and that is the content you can post there.

Some of my content here, I do walk on thin ice and will mostly set off a content flag for banned content, even though, I censored it to death. But so far, I have been lucky. I don’t know if what applies to WordPress can be used on Tumblr, given they have different rules.

So, why am I talking about Tumblr today? I am thinking of making Tumblr my main blogging platform. Keyword: “thinking” WordPress is still a good site to use, And it has done a lot for me as a free user. But WordPress feels much more professional, which is not a bad thing. But I feel the content I post here is not a good fit. My target audience, I wanna say is not on WordPress, and if they are, they are so far buried under bots, spam posts, tags.

These are pros I think about for Tumblr or WordPress. And Tumblr is not perfect, by any means. It still has porn bots that like to like posts or follow you. And every social media has bots. Look at WordPress. I still get bot followers, and in some tags, bots spam or copy and repost the same post to fill up a blog tag.

I guess what I wanted to do is talk about Tumblr. I will move back to Tumblr to see how things are, and how much has changed and do a simple test of posting to both blogging sites and see what happens. If Tumblr is better now in terms of blogging and blog tagging working right, I will probably move there. And making my WordPress blog a second backup blog.

Why I dislike guilds

Guilds. This term irks me so. I have a dislike for guilds, but I should say why I dislike guilds so much. And by proxy why I am not fond of guild leaders and the new guild communities, and this should clear up why I am not fond of guilds.

The Dragon Knights

There was a time where I loved guilds, and let’s go back a few years to where it started and why I loved being in guilds. 2017 is not the year. 2011 is not it.

2009 to 2010 is the year. Back before people were super sensitive or hyper-emotional, I was a part of a fun guild called “The Dragon Knights”, and this was an adventure quest worlds guild run by Dragorath and skydragonv1.

This guild had everything that made a guild, a guild at the time. It had a web chat room, forums, website, and a good community to talk with. It was a fun place. You share memes, progress, and talk to other users on forums. It wasn’t like today where you walk on eggshells, which is petty. 2009 to 2010 was great for me.

The Dragon Knights were everything that I wanted in a guild, but like all things, it has to end.

What happened to The Dragon Knights?

The guild disbanded. Given that most users’ social media was Adventure Quest Worlds, the game’s content was starting to get stale and repeating. And with flash MMORPG also being somewhat laggy on some computers back then, and life called.

During the close to the final days, there were mentions of guild wars and nothing of note. And when the guild died, I left the guild but now raising my standards for guilds because The Dragon Knights left me with a good impression.

A guild leader that is not overly emotional and very sane, and would never make a big deal out of nothing.
