Ah, the ongoing drought of no content in Phantasy Star Online 2: New Genesis. Always fun, no, not really. See, it has got so bad that even the “Phantasy Star Online 2: New Genesis is not dying, guys.” Keroppi has changed his tune. Although, very late to the party with making the video. I don’t understand the lad here, sometimes.
I see, where do we begin again?
Phantasy Star Online 2: New Genesis content is currently:
- Get all or some classes to level 20
- Get Battle power (BP) to BP 1400 or greater.
- “Complete” Story mode
- Hunt down Gigantix monsters
- Wait around for an Urgent Quest
- farming for armor (units) and weapons with a fixa level 3 or higher
- Get said weapon and armor to +40
- Get weapon’s potential to level 4
- Do weekly / daily quests.
This is not fun, this is padding because once you complete 1, 2, 3, 7, 8. All you do is running in a circle, doing mindless things. For me, I don’t already want to play Base Phantasy Star Online 2 anymore, and Phantasy Star Online 2: New Genesis, I don’t care for it anymore.
So what does New Genesis need to do to keep the game afloat till the December update?
Things that it needs:
- A new region
- new items
- more uses for ex-cubes
- mission pass
- side content (Time attack, monster rush, casino.)
- New weapons
- level 50 cap instead of level 35 cap
- A new story that is not 10 + mins
- new affixes
- training area
- new urgent and trial quests
- affix transfer
- Fixa feature (add a fixa but the number of ex cubes varies on the fixa you want and level it is at.)
- new NPCs
- new Gigantix monsters
- give the open world field more life (More NPCs, mobs, landmarks, crafting materials, cooking materials)
But If the December update is not that but a Level 35 cap and, a new story that is 10 mins, I am not going to bother with Phantasy Star Online 2 at that point. I am going to just drop the game. I value my time and if sega is going to half-ass content, I’m not going to waste my time.
Or, hear me out.
This is crazy, I know, but imagine if they delayed the game and instead of releasing this shitshow of a game in the state it is, they can work on it as much as they need to release a good game and not trash. But what do I know? We live in an era of shipping out games that feel incomplete and patching in content later.
We all know that as long as whales drop money into this game, sega and jp sega have no reason to care, so long there is no backlash. That’s what sega hears. And that is kinda pointless to give NA sega backlash since they have to more or less follow the roadmap/host a translated version that sega jp gives.
They can’t do much unless given a green light, and I’m sure there are some things they can do without getting a green light from jp but I can assume at this point.
As a long-time Sonic fan, and supporter of sega, and a new Phantasy Star Online 2 fan. I’m just tired of trying to deal with Sega and their slip-ups which seem to be like clockwork at this point. It’s annoying, and I think I am emotionally done.
If this update sucks, you know where I will be at. I will be playing genshin, Fate Grand Order, and elsword. Sadly, Phantasy Star Online 2 is making me see the good in other games. And speaking of games, I’ll be working on games, myself anyway.
This was a short post but I should sum things up if this Phantasy Star Online 2: New Genesis update sucks.
If the update sucks
- spending little to no time on Phantasy Star Online 2: New Genesis
- ask to be set back to a member
- doing other things
- streaming and Twitter
- playing Genshin, Elsword, Fate Grand Order, and other games.
That’s all I wanted to say.
Why Phantasy Star Online 2 was fun, for me, was simple. We got a daily login bonus, we go to the casino to gamble and lose, we would go on and do quests, Base Phantasy Star Online 2 was a game that didn’t need much to run. There was content to do, you had urgent quests that would not be random and follow a set schedule which made things easy to plan around. There were fun mini-games you could do if you hang around in Base Phantasy Star Online 2. The affix system was bad but I got around that.
Phantasy Star Online 2: New Genesis each day feels like an early access game or a template for an open world MMORPG, and the lack of content or side things to do like base is killing my drive to play Phantasy Star Online 2 altogether, and I hate that because I loved base Phantasy Star Online 2 but I don’t know anymore.
What made Phantasy Star Online 2 fun for me personally is gone, and if this winter update sucks, I might drop out. I’m not having fun anymore. I will play when guild ppls need me and I am around to play. But I don’t know.
